Tahiba Begum BSc (Hons) MCOptom
Tahiba Begum is a qualified Optometrist with over ten years of experience in her respective field. She has worked in multiple high street chains where she completed her pre-registration, after which she successfully progressed as a supervisor and tutor within the industry. Tahiba has aided many students with their training who have qualified as successful Optometrists.
Born in Rochdale, a small town in Greater Manchester, Tahiba successfully obtained the highest GCSE grades in her cohort, which included 8A*s and 5As, withstanding Rochdale's challenging education system. She then progressed to Oldham Sixth Form College and completed her BSc in Optometry at Bradford University. Following her residency at Specsavers, Tahiba relocated to London, where she advanced her experience and continues to work as a locum Optometrist in several different optical branches.
She was fortunate to meet many Optometrists and healthcare professionals, each adding valuable insight to her experience. Following on, Tahiba was blessed with two children who came with their challenges, new experiences and put a unique perspective on life. She took a 3-year maternity break to focus primarily on her children. When it was time to return, the overwhelming feeling of returning to work was unexpected. This led to an awe-struck moment of inspiration, and as such, Optometry 101 came to fruition.
Founded by Tahiba Begum, Optometry 101 focuses on support and guidance for students and Optometrists. The principal aim is to provide a clear understanding of Optometry in everyday practice.
"Most ocular pathology books are designed with the Ophthalmologists in mind. Sourcing relevant information can take time; this can become extremely difficult in a busy workplace with a tight schedule. A book at hand, catered towards the Optometrist, with practical guidelines to use in the testing room, will make a difference to the job. Designed with this purpose, Optometry 101 will provide ease to the Optometrist in completing their job to the best of their ability."
